Commercial expansion initiative, which follows previous ones as participation in Fenavin or trade mission to New York, opening new markets to wine from La Mancha

El Progreso Cooperative from Villarrubia de los Ojos, which represents 2,050 crop farmers, will hold a trade mission to Switzerland from June 26th to 29th, with the goal of opening new markets to its wines.

Cesareo Cabrera, Cooperative president, told us that "this trade mission wants to broaden new horizons for our wines and fermented grape musts with the goal of increasing our contact network and our sales abroad, due to consumption stagnation in national market".

El Progreso Cooperative from Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real)took part last May in Chicago World Wine Meetings (USA), holding several presentation tastings of its wines in Boston, Philadelphia, New York and Washington, which was hold in restaurant "Jaleo", managed by prestigious Spanish Chef José Andrés.

This commercial action follows other important ones carried out along this year by this Cooperative, seconde exporter in Europe, as it has been its presence in Fenavin, main European wine sector fair, where Asian buyers showed very interested in the successful fermented grape must "Viña Xetar", which has significantly increased its sales along last four years. At the same time, European buyers were attracted by red wines "Ojos del Guadiana", including young wines, Syrah and coupage of Cabernet, Syrah and Merlot; and, of course, by new Verdejo white wine "Ojos del Guadiana".

Commercial actions are already showing their good results, according to Mercedes Millán, exporting technical responsible in El Progreso, "last Spring we sent a ship to Italy loaded down with wine from Villarubia de los Ojos, thanks to interesting contacts we are making abroad".

New awards in 2011 to El Progreso wines
El Progreso wines continue receiving awards. Last one, Gold Medal to "Ojos del Guadiana Gran Reserva 2003" given by D.O. La Mancha. Formerly, "Ojos del Guadiana Syrah" 2010 received Silver Medial in II Concurso Regional de Vinos de la Tierra del Quijote (II Tierra del Quijote Regional Wines Competition) hold last February 26th in Alcazar de San Juan by Consejería de Agricultura and IVICAM.
El Progreso has also achieved that its red wines "Ojos del Guadiana" young, reserva and gran reserva, have been awarded five times in Gran Selección with gold medals, as much as a silver medal in "Concurso Mundial Tempranillos al Mundo".
